This painting was inspired by those moments when light pierces through dramatic skies, illuminating crashing waves. A wave bursts against a dark rocky outcrop, sending a tall plume of white spray into a clear blue sky. Lines of foam-crested surf roll in across deep teal-green water toward a wet sandy beach in the foreground. I wanted to freeze that electrifying instant where the ocean's raw force meets the light, because there is nothing more alive than the sea in that moment.
